Update #9: Kickstarter update and NEW stretch goals
Exactly half way through. Progress report time!
Hey gang! This is a newsletter about Poem/1, the AI rhyming clock — telling the time with a new ChatGPT poem every MINUTE on a gorgeous e-paper screen. You’re getting this email because you subscribed for updates. If you need it, the unsubscribe link is at the bottom of this email. If you’re along for the ride, thank you :)
Ok this is amazing — the Kickstarter campaign is halfway through and it has been AMAZING.
Poem/1 is 83% funded with a whole 15 days to go. This is incredible. We’re not there yet, but I am super grateful for how it is going.
Let me give you a couple of updates, plus an answer to this question: what is the button for?
Press roundup
We’ve had great coverage including Fast Company, Ars Technica, the TLDR AI newsletter, the Journey With Purpose podcast, and Forbes, who got this quote:
“We have a machine-poet velocity of 0.5 million poems/year.”
Poem/1 was also featured in the Kickstarter Invent newsletter and has been granted an exclusive Kickstarter Projects We Love tag!
I’m tracking the press on my blog.

More details in Kickstarter update #2.
What is that button for?? Announcing the stretch goals
There's a button on the top of Poem/1.
So let's give that button something to do.
And add a stretch goal. No, two stretch goals.
I’m going to make it possible to…
1️⃣ Like, save and share your favourite poems. The AI composes so many great ones, so let’s make sure we keep them!
2️⃣ Send yourself notes. Send a message to your clock to be seen by whoever is at home! Send yourself a reminder!
Full details in Kickstarter update #3 — but remember, these only get unlocked if the campaign is overfunded :-D

There’s still a way to go
It’s going well but we’re not there yet!
If you can share Poem/1 on your slacks, discords, whatapps, and blogs, I would be truly grateful. I am available to come shamelessly shill on podcasts and online publications till the end of the February haha
The memorable Kickstarter link you can say without even writing it down is this: poem.town/ks
Thank you again,
